Even though most of my 618 students today have social media accounts, such as FB or Instagram, many still have never had the opportunity to create a blog.
I look forward to seeing how the students personalize their blogs initially and then how to continue to make it more dynamic as we move through the semester and learn more about the composition possibilities of web-based texts.
As Lacina and Griffith (2012) say, "integrating blogging into the classroom writing instruction can engage students and motivate them to participate more fully in the writing process" (p. 317).
One thing they should remember is to NOT use MSWord to compose their entry. In order to maintain the formatting of the blog, the post needs to be composed in Blogger.
It is also best to compose their entries using single spaced and block format paragraphs. No need to indent a new paragraph.
